Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and moved back to Lagos, Nigeria, at a young age. He comes from a wealthy and influential family; his father, Adedeji Adeleke, is a Nigerian business magnate, while his mother, Veronica Adeleke, was a university lecturer.
He developed an interest in music early on and was inspired by American hip-hop and Afrobeat. He attended Oakwood University in the USA before dropping out to pursue music full-time.

Davido started his music career in 2011 with the release of his single “Back When”, which gained popularity in Nigeria. He later signed with HKN Music and Sony Music before founding his own label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).
